Stamped 'Rose Co'

This is an early Rose Company Distillery Jug, the first licensed distillery in Georgia after the civil war.

Probably made by Bird or Brown for Rose Co. in Atlanta.

Repaired handle and lip, otherwise a very nice piece with glass drips.

Bottom has been broken in several places causing piece to tilt at a 30 degree list backwards.

Interim piece from prior to 'blue band' typical of the later Johnson.

Chip 4"x 1" on lip, small 1.5" gouge on outside near centerline. A few stress fractures but otherwise very nice piece.

Beautiful blue runs in piece, great for decoration!

North State Pottery Seagrove, NC

Has '3rd' mark, late 50's piece before company was sold to Walter Owen and name was changed.

Crazing to glaze, minor fleabites.

Unusually piece of North State due to being a utilitarian piece (they were more known for producing art pottery than utilitarian ware) and an unusual glaze.
